The Gatlinburg Space Needle
The Space Needle is the tallest observation tower in the world, with a height of 407 feet. A glass elevator takes you to the top, where you get miles of magnificent views of Gatlinburg. It is also a beautiful place for weddings or other events because it has a restaurant on the second floor, giving you tons of room to dance and eat!
Then there’s also The Gatlinburg Sky Deck, located at the top of the Gatlinburg Space Needle. It is open year-round and free to visit, with no tickets or reservations required.
Ober Gatlinburg Aerial Tramway
The Ober Gatlinburg Aerial Tramway is a fun way to climb the mountain. It is open from 10 am to 6 pm and costs $22 for adults and $20 for children ages 3-12. The ride lasts 1 hour and 20 minutes and takes you through the forest canopy with amazing views of downtown Gatlinburg & Smoky Mountains National Park.
The Ober Aerial Tramway departs from downtown Gatlinburg and whisks you up directly to Ober Gatlinburg Amusement Park and Ski Area. The highest point during the tramway is about three hundred feet! Once you’re at the top, have a meal at the Carriage House 5, which serves food & drinks, including burgers or pizza.
The Clingman’s Dome
Clingman’s dome is the highest point in the Smoky Mountains, with over 6,000 feet. The view from atop this iconic peak is awe-inspiring! The bald eagle nest on top of The Clingman’s Dome makes it an ideal destination for bird-watching enthusiasts and photographers.

The observation tower at this peak gives you an amazing 360-degree view of the surrounding area. You can see as far as Tennessee and North Carolina to your west (or south), while mountains like Black Balsam Knob and Oconaluftee are visible to your east (or north).
Cade’s Cove is a valley named after Chief Kade, a pioneer who settled there in 1818. It is a natural wonder of the world and is a beautiful place to spend time with family, friends, or even alone. It is also excellent for solo travelers who want to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
There are so many activities here that will help you forget your worries for a while! The Cove has beautiful trails that wind through forests filled with wildflowers; swim in clear waters, hike up nearby mountains; kayak down riverside creeks; explore caves at high elevations, and zip line over waterfalls.
Newfound Gap Road
Newfound Gap Road is a National Scenic Byway that crosses the Great Smoky Mountains in the eastern United States. It is the only road crossing the park, offering some of Gatlinburg’s best views of wildlife, such as deer, bears, and turkeys.
Newfound Gap Road has a total length of 33 miles (53km), but if you want a different experience, we recommend different routes like Cherokee Orchard Trail or Cades Cove Loop Road.
Along this drive, you will also find many trailheads to hiking trails leading to state parks, beautiful waterfalls, and scenic overlooks where you can see over several counties at once.
The Great Smoky Mountains National Park
The Great Smoky Mountains National Park is one of America’s most visited national parks, with over nine million visitors yearly.
The park offers more than eight hundred miles of hiking trails ranging from strolls along paved paths to strenuous overnight backpacking trips. You can also take horseback riding tours on horseback or even catch an elephant ride!
