How To Set Up and Use Your Hookah

If you’ve never smoked a hookah before, the process can seem a bit daunting. But don’t worry, this guide is here to help! In this article, you will learn everything you need to know to set up and use your hookah. Keep reading to learn more about setting up and using your new water pipe.

Choose the right hookah

If you’re interested in smoking shisha, you’ll need to first gather all the components for your setup. A hookah bundle makes this step easy because it comes with everything you need. Hookah bundles refer to a package of hookah products sold together to set up and use a hookah. The bundles include a hookah pipe, hose, bowl, and tongs. It may also include flavorings, coals, and other necessary accessories.

Set up your water pipe

To set up the actual water pipe, you’ll first need to clean the components. Disconnect all of the hookah parts if they aren’t disconnected already. Wash the parts with water and a soft brush, then wipe them dry with a towel or let them air dry. After that, you’ll want to connect the hookah bowl to the stem and the base. You can do this by simply lowering the shaft into the base so that the stem enters the water. Make sure this fit is airtight so that your smoke comes out in thick clouds. Then, connect your hose and any other accessories to the side of the shaft. Make sure all the hookah parts fit snugly.

Check the airflow

Once your water pipe is all set up, you’ll need to check the airflow. Place your hand on top of the stem to block any air. Then, you’ll want to try to inhale through the mouthpiece. If you can get air, this means your connections are loose. Adjust any of the rubber seals or grommets to ensure everything airtight. After that, you can position the metal tray back on top of the shaft.

Prepare the shisha for your smoke session

Fill the base of the water pipe with cold water just below the metal stem. Some people like to add ice to the base, but it’s entirely up to you. Make sure not to fill up the water above the stem as this will cause flooding when you add tobacco to the bowl. Next, unscrew the hose from the bowl and stir your shisha inside its package. You’ll then want to fill the hookah bowl with tobacco. Add one or two scoops of shisha to the bowl. Be careful not to pack it too tightly or your smoke will be harsh. You can cover your bowl with foil and use a toothpick to poke holes through the foil. These foil holes provide the appropriate channels for heat and air within the tobacco.

Heat up your coals

Use a pair of scissors or a sharp knife to cut open one end of your charcoal packet. You can use more than one packet of charcoal depending on how large your bowl is. To heat up your quick-light charcoal, you can use a lighter directly under each piece until the coal starts to glow red. If you’re using natural coal, you’ll likely need a heat management device or an electric burner to heat up the coal. Allow your coal to continue heating up until all coals are glowing red. These are typically placed on top of the foil. Once the bowl is warm, you can inhale smoke through the hose. Pull with short breaths and relax. Now, you’ve officially learned how to set up and use your hookah!

Hopefully, the guide above has given you all the tools and directions you need for a tasty hookah session. Good luck!
